Inner Writing
Pillow Talk – bands binding
I was quite interested in how the experience of reading a poem can change when some manual activity is involved. Particularly, how turning a page gives the reader a chance to pause, think, wait and absorb the text. So I decided to write a series of three little poems with just a sentence on one page just to see what happens. Here is the first one.
There is also the idea that these poems could be whispered on the pillow while in bed with the beloved. It is a kind of ‘pillow talk’.
Of course none of this can be re-created on a blog. But here is the second of these little poems anyway.

bands binding
a poem to whisper on the pillow.
We cannot know
what lies
in wait for us,
what trials or even
heartaches
might come our way.
Surely we will
be tested
and the bands
that bind us together
will be stretched
and may even falter.
But I will hold
onto you my love,
we will ride
those storms and not be
overwhelmed.
Our Being
and our being together
will heal all that is broken
and bind all
that is separated for
“many waters cannot
quench love, neither the
flood drown it” *
