  1. That’s lovely, Tim. My earliest memories are of playing my parents eclectic set of 78s, classical ones like the Warsaw Concerto and the Liebstod from Tristan and Isolde. But there were others that I used to dance to for hours when about 7 or 8. Fats Waller and the Andrew Sisters, the Ink Spots, and then lots of moody French cabaret songs, Charles Trenet `Boum’ and La Mer. They’ve all stayed with me through my life. And it’s lovely today to see very young children in Ruskin Park on Bandstand days not being able to stop themselves from dancing – moving to rhythm seems to be an irresistible human life force!

    • Thank you Carole for your response and talking about your 78s. We had a copy of the Warsaw Concerto. It think it was 3 records in total. Loved the picture you offered of how these records led you to dance. Maybe that Fats Waller 78 might be worth something now. Yes we should dance with the kids.
